The_Masters: The patrons have an obvious adoration for Greg Norman, such a warm reception on #1 tee. Heard the first eagle roar--Watney made a 3 on #2.

Vacation Day 5
My goal for Monday was to break 80 during at least one of my rounds. In the first round it wasn't looking good because of triple bogies on the 2nd and 13th holes. But yet I found myself only 7 over with 3 holes to play from the Blues on the Blue Monster (a very difficult course) after a birdie on the 155 yard par 3 15th. Of course I blew it, finishing bogey, bogey, double bogey to shoot an 83. I was close, but no cigar. Couldn't hit the fairways on the last 3 holes and it cost me my goal. So of course I had to play again in the afternoon.
Between rounds I ate lunch with my DC buddies and Toni took a break from her difficult work at the spa to join us for a few minutes. But then it was back to the golf course.
In the afternoon we played the Gold course which was easier than the two courses I had already played, but I was still going to try to break 80. Again I messed up early in the round with back to back doubles on holes 3 and 4. But I fought my way back with some clutch pars and birdies and only need a bogey on the final hole to break 80. I had been fading my driver the entire week...so I aimed down the left side of the fairway...and of course hooked the ball into the left trees. I tried a Phil Mickelson shot, hitting the ball in the water. And I ended up with a double bogey and a score of....80! Doh! I guess it wasn't meant to be.
I believe during the day Toni got a facial, did some spinning, some pilates, maybe a haircut and some eyebrow waxing....but you'd have to check with her for the details. I was focused on golf.
After golf Toni and I ate a nice dinner and Champions at the resort, then went back to the room to watch some Monday night TV...we were too tired to do anything any more extravagant. Or at least I was after 36 holes of golf in the sun. But our trip was coming to an end and we had a marvelous time.
Day 4 Vol 2
Anyway...after my 7:00 AM round of golf on Sunday we went to the Doral Alehouse for the Colts game. It was great. We had a great seat in front of a TV showing the Colts game...not to mention about 10 other HD TVs showing other NFL games. Of course the Colts game was pretty depressing until about 5 minutes left in the game, then we were treated to one of the greatest late comebacks in NFL history. I still can't believe the Colts won that game. They didn't deserve to, but they made the plays to win...that's why they don't draw pictures in the standings. A win is a win.
After the Colts game Toni was tired from laying down in the spa for the last 3 days and wanted to take a nap, so we went back to the resort and Toni went to nap, and I went to the restaurant in the resort to watch the afternoon football games. I ran into the guys I had played golf with that morning (from DC) and they asked me to play with them on Monday. They were playing the Blue Monster again, so I agreed.
These guys were good golfers, but boy did they like to play fast. Their names were Jim, Bill and Bryan. One was a Notre Dame fan, the other a Vikings fan and the third a Packers fan. They were fun to play golf with so I decided to join them on Day 5.
Also while sitting there I talked to a guy that was from Indy but worked for Pfizer, and another guy that lived in Raleigh NC but worked for a CRO (Clinical Research Organization) which is a type of company that Lilly uses regularly for conducting clinical trials. I usually don't talk to strangers much...but I was the life of the place in that bar. Then Toni woke up and come down and joined me until the games were over.

Vacation: Day 4 Vol 1
Toni worked out while I played. W e are getting ready to go to the Doral Alehouse to watch the Colts game. Dunno what we will do after that.
Vacation: Day 3
I teed off at 12, and Toni wanted to ride with me. I was paired up with a guy named Robert. We also had a forecaddie, which was a new experience for me...little different but nice.
Then it started to storm and we had to get off the course. It ended up being about a 90 minute delay...but then we got back out...but Toni decided to go to the spa instead of going back out with me.
I played okay...shot another 84, just like the first day, but this was a much longer more difficult course, and it was very wet. So I actually played better.
Afte golf ans spa we went to the Dolphin Mall and a Cuban place called Mojito's. I am now a big fan of Cuban food. It was great food and we had a real nice time. Toni wanted to go there for dancing, but the live music didn't start until 11, and I am was too fuddy duddy to stay out that late after a long day of golf.
I have a 7 AM tee time tomorrow.

Vacation: Day 2
Toni spent all day at the spa getting treatments and massages from a very large lady named Roberta.
Then we drove to South Beach and had dinner outside at Café Nuvo. It was a pretty nice place. Then we walked out to the beach in the dark and Toni wanted to feel the Ocean water. Well...she got too close and didn't see a large wave coming...because it was dark...and got smacked by the wave all the way up to her neck. It was classic...and she had to ride all the way back soaking wet. Good stuff.
Until next time...

Time for vacation
Last Thursday George (our dog) bit my hand and hurt me pretty bad. If it had been Abby or Luke the damage could have been terrible. So even though George has been a great dog for us for 9 years, we had to make the difficult decision to get rid of George.
Luckily, my mother has worked very hard and found some options for new homes for George even with the biting incident.
So our vacation is welcome now to help us recover from the last few days.
I'll try to keep vacation-bloggong from my phone during our vacation.

Golf success in recent weeks
- My golf partner in the Lilly Golf League, Rick, and I won the Regular Season championship. A knock down drag out 23 week competition of playing multiple teams. We had a slim margin going into the last week and barely hung on to win. It was the second time I have won the regular season in that league in 4 years.
- I played in Toni's dad's company golf outing and won closest to the pin which was worth a brand new 56 degree sand wedge. Also, I played with Toni's mom and another guy...only three people in a 4 person scramble...to finish just one shot out of first place. Bummer.
- Yesterday I played in a Ryder Cup style event with LastMinuteGolfer.com at Royal Hylands Golf Club with a guy named Brad from Lilly. He and I ended up winning the rain-shortened event by 4 strokes! And we birdied 3 holes that no other team (out of 40 teams) birdied. So we got our entry fee back, won new golf bags, a trophy, two rounds of golf at that course each plus a bunch of points through LastMinuteGolfer.com which equate to more free golf.
- Oh yeah, and I shot a 79 at Purgatory Golf Club with my buddy Bill on Monday at Purgatory Golf Club and beat him by 6 strokes. I bring this up because his Bears beat my Colts the night before, so I had to have the one up on something.

Week 1: Colts vs. Bears
The neatest moments were the cheers that Reggie Wayne and Peyton Manning got coming out of the tunnel. Although one thing they missed out on I thought they could have done to make it better...why not save the unveiling of the 2006 Super Bowl banner until the opening part of the first regular season game in the new building? To get the crowd and team all pumped remembering how that felt? But no, it was already there unfurled when I attended the first pre-season game in the building with no fanfare to debut the Super Bowl banner in the new building. I thought that would have been pretty cool. Plus I was there last season for the first regular season game after the Super Bowl win (Colts vs. Saints) when the Super Bowl banner was unfurled, and that was so cool I thought it would be a neat opportunity to experience that twice. Is that asking too much?
Anyway, I think the single play that blew the game was Marvin's fumble returned for a TD. The Colts had momentum and were driving to take the lead, and that play single-handedly changed the complexion of the game. I had my buddy Bill from Chicago at the game with me, and he is now banned from attending any Bears vs. Colts games with me.

July 4th
This seemed to work at the beginning as the kids enjoyed the show, but as the fireworks got bigger and louder throughout the show, the kids got more and more scared even with their ear muffs.
Abby's quote: "I like the ones that stay close to the ground. I don't like the boom booms that go up in the air."
Luke had fun that evening too, although he did get a big "boo boo" on his head from falling. But it appears there is not any permanent damage (at least physically).

Bad Blogger
So I gave up on my blog...I gave up on making my NFL picks...but I haven't given up on the idea. Just tough to find the time with two young kids, my job and my fledgling professional golf career.
Anyway, some of this pics from the summer will give you an idea of what we have been up to. Hopefully I'll find some time real soon to provide some textual update on the family.

Long-time coming update
Anyway, kids are growing up and we have had fun in the summer, going on another vacation with Toni's parents in their Winnebega (aka "Mum and Pop's Bus") to Virgina Beach. Abby loves the beach so that was a lot of fun.
Luke is a crazy crawler now and is really anxious to walk like big sis....so he has been trying his best to stand on his own...I think he'll be walking by 10 months...that is my prediction and now it is published.
Toni is just trying to keep up with the house, staying active with Jazzercise and making sure our kids stay fed. Not a problem for Luke, though.
I haven't gotten to play much golf this year, but have had a real good summer in the golf league. My partner and I finished 2nd out of 16 teams in the regular season standings, and are off to a good start in the post-season. But this past weekend I did get to play with Toni's dad on both Saturday and Sunday (Bear Slide, 81 and The Fort, 80). My goal was to break 80 on both days but a few mistakes here and there cost me.
The biggest news though is the approaching NFL season. Colts returning to defend the Super Bowl championship, and Bryce's fantasy football leagues starting up. Nothing like the NFL season.
Here are some pictures of the family and some of the fun we have had this summer:

Breaking News: Bryce shoots 75 on US Open Sunday
Score: 75 (4 birdies, 9 pars, 3 bogeys, 2 dbl bogeys)
Fairways: 7/14
Greens: 8/18
Putts: 27 (although my "chip in" on 18 was technically a putt from off the green)
Sand Saves: 0/0 (because good golfers don't hit it in the sand)
Toni was nice enough to watch the kids while I got to play early Sunday on Father's day. It was a great morning and lots of fun to play well finally this year.
My best shot of the day was a 270 yd 3 wood on my 2nd shot into a Par 5 that ended up only 15 ft from the hole. I didn't make the eagle putt...but had one of those lovely tap-in birdies.
Now if I could only get my driver and my putter working on the same day...I could really do some damage.
Golf predictions gone bad

US Open
Given all that, I am not convinced he is going to win tomorrow. He may and usually does...but I think Aaron Baddely will pull it off. Tiger has never come from behind to win a major...always does so from the lead after 54 holes...and Aaron Baddely has always played well at the end of tournaments when in contention.
Now maybe the Tiger intimidation factor could come into play...but I am thinking Tiger will lose "Baddely" on Sunday. Now it is officially recorded so people can hold me to my predictions.
Coming in August...NFL predictions for the 2007 season...I bet you are on the edge of your seat to see who I pick to win the Super Bowl.

90,000 Miles
So then I was worried it would flip when I pulled my car in after all the kids went in...so I considered backing my car into the driveway / garage...but cooler minds prevailed.
So this morning as I pulled out of our neighborhood, the numbers flipped and I tried to take a picture with my cell phone (I was at a Stop sign Mom!...wasn't driving and taking pictures at the same time). Anyway, I found out once I got to work that I had taken a video and not a picture so I couldn't make it my background image on my cell phone. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep that picture of my kids on there instead.
So in short...my trip to work cost me over $200 this morning...when you factor in the value I lost on my car (used www.kbb.com to calculate) and the gas money. Whew...I should have worked from home today.

Daddy and Abby's fun night!
So after dinner we cleaned up dishes, changed diapers, put on shoes and socks, and went outside to play. Of course all of Abby's friends were outside playing too...Katie-Lauren (aka DehDeh Longen), Zach (aka Yack), Katie (aka DehDeh) and Nick (aka "No Nick!!).
All the kids took turns pushing Abby on her bike, and she is very close to being able to pedal all by herself.
Abby's funniest moment came when she saw Katie and Nick with those Flavr-Ice treats. Abby rode her bike up to Katie and said "Abby purple popcicle please....RIGHT NOW!". So Miss Karen got a treat for Abby too.
Around 9:15 all the other kids went inside and I kept pushing Abby around the cul-de-sac on her bike to teach her how to pedal. Around 9:40 she looked around and said "No more kids outside!" That was my queue it was time to try to put her to bed.
Luckily we managed to get inside, drink some milk out of Abby's new Colts Cup, change clothes and diaper, brush teeth and read four books without waking up Mommy and Luke. Abby was asleep by 10:30...and Daddy headed to the basement to finish up work that had to be done for Tuesday morning.
Long day...but lots of fun! And I didn't even mention that earlier in the day Mommy took Abby for her first swim lesson and had to leave Luke with the daycare at the YMCA. Mommy was worried, but everything turned out great.
Day of Golf
So my only competition became Jill who has been taking lessons and showing great improvement. But as soon as she took 11 shots to get out of one bunker, I had her beat too. So while I was satisfied to get to play golf, my competitive instincts were not quelched by this round.
Although it was a lot of fun. Especially everytime Jill or I would bounce balls of trees on to the green, or skip shots across water and into the fairway...and Chris would complain that he doesn't have the "Luck of the Williams" on his side.
Luckily we finished by 1:52, just enough time for Jill to visit the restroom before she and Chris had to go to their 2:00 golf lesson. I wonder if they got their fill of golf for the day? She was going to try for 3:40 Jazzercise...I bet that didn't happen.
I was ready to go out and play 18 more...but then I remembered I have kids at home. But I had temporarily forgetten about my kids while on the golf course on a perfect day!
Not that any of the men mentioned it or would admit to it...but between us...Jill did outdrive all the men on the 7th hole. Then on the 8th hold I chunked my 9 iron on the par 3 to barely made it past the ladies tees. Jill chimed in..."At least we know he's human!" I didn't think it was very funny at the time.
Oh well, a great time was had by all. And while we played golf, Toni, Gigi, Abby and Luke played in a makeshift beach on our back deck at home!

Family vacation to Chateau Chantal
We went with Bryce's parents (Gigi and Papa) and had a wonderful time.
Plus there was a beach not far from our B&B and Abby certainly loved going to the Beach/Park.

Our next planned vacation is in early July with Toni's parents to Virgina Beach in what Abby calls "Mum and Pop's Bus"...ie their Winnebego.
