Breaking News: Bryce shoots 75 on US Open Sunday

So while Angel Cabrerra was fending off Tiger and Jim Furyk, I was setting the golf world on fire by shooting a 75 at the esteemed Ironwood Golf Club in Fishers, IN. The stat line:

Score: 75 (4 birdies, 9 pars, 3 bogeys, 2 dbl bogeys)
Fairways: 7/14
Greens: 8/18
Putts: 27 (although my "chip in" on 18 was technically a putt from off the green)
Sand Saves: 0/0 (because good golfers don't hit it in the sand)

Toni was nice enough to watch the kids while I got to play early Sunday on Father's day. It was a great morning and lots of fun to play well finally this year.

My best shot of the day was a 270 yd 3 wood on my 2nd shot into a Par 5 that ended up only 15 ft from the hole. I didn't make the eagle putt...but had one of those lovely tap-in birdies.

Now if I could only get my driver and my putter working on the same day...I could really do some damage.

Golf predictions gone bad

I am officially retiring from the golf prediction business. Although I did predict that Tiger would lose...I figured it would be from the guy already ahead of him...not from another obscure player from behind.

That is two majors in a row now where Tiger has been in the last group, held the lead at some point in the final round, and was then beaten by a non-major winner out of a group that was 2-3 holes ahead of him (see Zach Johnson, 2007 Masters champ, 10th hole below during Monday practice round).

Not that Tiger is playing poorly...but the golf world is not crumbling now when Tiger is in contention. Interesting trend so far.
But the other interesting trend is that I am 0-1 in my predictions. I'll be much better at football predictions. But I am sure I'll try something for the British Open as well.

US Open

I watched much of Tiger's 3rd round today...and other than noticing the glaring similarities between his game and mine...thoroughly enjoyed watching him pick apart that golf course. Too bad he couldn't putt today...because that really was close to being a historic round of golf.

Given all that, I am not convinced he is going to win tomorrow. He may and usually does...but I think Aaron Baddely will pull it off. Tiger has never come from behind to win a major...always does so from the lead after 54 holes...and Aaron Baddely has always played well at the end of tournaments when in contention.

Now maybe the Tiger intimidation factor could come into play...but I am thinking Tiger will lose "Baddely" on Sunday. Now it is officially recorded so people can hold me to my predictions.

Coming in August...NFL predictions for the 2007 season...I bet you are on the edge of your seat to see who I pick to win the Super Bowl.

90,000 Miles

My Acura 3.0CL hit 90,000 miles today on my way to work. I actually knew it would happen this week...but on my way home last night wasn't paying attention. When I parked my car in the cul-de-sac (couldn't pull in driveway because kids were playing outside) I noticed the odometer was at 89,999. If it had flipped on my way home I would have missed it.

So then I was worried it would flip when I pulled my car in after all the kids went in...so I considered backing my car into the driveway / garage...but cooler minds prevailed.

So this morning as I pulled out of our neighborhood, the numbers flipped and I tried to take a picture with my cell phone (I was at a Stop sign Mom!...wasn't driving and taking pictures at the same time). Anyway, I found out once I got to work that I had taken a video and not a picture so I couldn't make it my background image on my cell phone. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep that picture of my kids on there instead.

So in short...my trip to work cost me over $200 this morning...when you factor in the value I lost on my car (used www.kbb.com to calculate) and the gas money. Whew...I should have worked from home today.

Daddy and Abby's fun night!

Last night Toni and Luke went to bed very early (7:30) after a long previous night of teething and restlessness. So Abby and Daddy had the whole night to themselves to play.

So after dinner we cleaned up dishes, changed diapers, put on shoes and socks, and went outside to play. Of course all of Abby's friends were outside playing too...Katie-Lauren (aka DehDeh Longen), Zach (aka Yack), Katie (aka DehDeh) and Nick (aka "No Nick!!).

All the kids took turns pushing Abby on her bike, and she is very close to being able to pedal all by herself.

Abby's funniest moment came when she saw Katie and Nick with those Flavr-Ice treats. Abby rode her bike up to Katie and said "Abby purple popcicle please....RIGHT NOW!". So Miss Karen got a treat for Abby too.

Around 9:15 all the other kids went inside and I kept pushing Abby around the cul-de-sac on her bike to teach her how to pedal. Around 9:40 she looked around and said "No more kids outside!" That was my queue it was time to try to put her to bed.

Luckily we managed to get inside, drink some milk out of Abby's new Colts Cup, change clothes and diaper, brush teeth and read four books without waking up Mommy and Luke. Abby was asleep by 10:30...and Daddy headed to the basement to finish up work that had to be done for Tuesday morning.

Long day...but lots of fun! And I didn't even mention that earlier in the day Mommy took Abby for her first swim lesson and had to leave Luke with the daycare at the YMCA. Mommy was worried, but everything turned out great.

Day of Golf

Dad, Jill, Chris and I (Bryce) ventured out for a fun day of golf at Grey Eagle on Sunday. Of course, I think Dad and Chris were tuckered out from having played on both Friday and Saturday...so I didn't have to worry about them beating me with tired legs.

So my only competition became Jill who has been taking lessons and showing great improvement. But as soon as she took 11 shots to get out of one bunker, I had her beat too. So while I was satisfied to get to play golf, my competitive instincts were not quelched by this round.

Although it was a lot of fun. Especially everytime Jill or I would bounce balls of trees on to the green, or skip shots across water and into the fairway...and Chris would complain that he doesn't have the "Luck of the Williams" on his side.

Luckily we finished by 1:52, just enough time for Jill to visit the restroom before she and Chris had to go to their 2:00 golf lesson. I wonder if they got their fill of golf for the day? She was going to try for 3:40 Jazzercise...I bet that didn't happen.

I was ready to go out and play 18 more...but then I remembered I have kids at home. But I had temporarily forgetten about my kids while on the golf course on a perfect day!

Not that any of the men mentioned it or would admit to it...but between us...Jill did outdrive all the men on the 7th hole. Then on the 8th hold I chunked my 9 iron on the par 3 to barely made it past the ladies tees. Jill chimed in..."At least we know he's human!" I didn't think it was very funny at the time.

Oh well, a great time was had by all. And while we played golf, Toni, Gigi, Abby and Luke played in a makeshift beach on our back deck at home!

Family vacation to Chateau Chantal

We just got back from our vacation up in Traverse City, MI. We stayed at a B&B / Winery called the Chateau Chantal. We stayed in the "Executive" apartment and lived it up with great accommodations, a nice full kitchen, and all the wine you can taste. http://www.chateauchantal.com/

We went with Bryce's parents (Gigi and Papa) and had a wonderful time.

Plus there was a beach not far from our B&B and Abby certainly loved going to the Beach/Park.
